Pennisetum 'Hameln'
In late summer, this characteristic perennial grass forms a low mound and produces long-lasting, soft, pinkish, brush-like flowers that resemble squirrel tails. In autumn, the bright green leaves turn yellow, and in winter, they turn brown. Until the flowers appear, it's a reasonably unremarkable plant, so plant it alongside spring bulbs or early-flowering perennials.
